New Laptop
So I've been having some fun with my new laptop. Stacey is now experiencing the woeful inatequacy of that machine this past week since her Mac Mini died. Anyway, since I spend so much time at her house I really wanted to get a laptop fast enough to browse the web with more than two tabs. Thanks to the goodness of Ebay I picked up an eMachines M6810 notebook with a pretty 16x9 screen, 60GB hard drive, built-in 802.11g (unfortunately broadcom chipset), multi-card reader, half a gig of memory, ATI Radeon Mobility 9600, and a AMD64 3200+ processor.
It's rather nice and I'm quite pleased at the speed. There are plenty of things that my mac does better (handbrake being one of the killer apps), but all in all I'm enjoying my configuration time with Ubuntu. This is a little screenshot of the lovely desktop where I spend my time. I'm a sucker for a nice looking desktop. Sorry Windows, you may have all those fancy proprietary drivers and wonderful apps like IE, but you've got a face only a mother could love.
