PH
6/8/2006 – 4:10 pmIf my deodorant and shampoo are specially PH balanced, why don’t they list the PH on the bottle. Isn’t that kinda like just putting “Octane rated” on the fuel pump.

I think it’s because a balanced PH means it’s not going to burn your skin. Generally it’s 9 to 10 on the PH scale, with water being 7. If it’s balanced, it’s not higher than 10 I think, tho the scale goes up to 14 or 15. Since people haven’t been able to say that soap is better at certain PH levels, it’s useless to to try and rate it like octane when any PH level, so long as it doesn’t burn, will work with any skin.

I suppose what we are to understand is that men and women have different PHs, but all men have the same PH and all women have the same PH. I’ve not put a piece of litmus paper under my armpit recently so I I guess they would consider it useless information.
