How Generous
Tuesday, November 20th, 2007So on Sunday a young couple and their little girl came knocking on our door. We don’t get very many solicitors so it was slightly unusual - I imagine because there is a high renter concentration, the slummy surrounding (we live in perhaps the lowest income part of Sterling and therefore can’t afford anything), and because this is a condo complex so you can’t get a lot of roofing or siding jobs.
This family though was not selling anything… except for salvation I suppose. They handed me a flyer and said something about a Thanksgiving dinner their church was going to be having. It wasn’t until this morning that I read the flyer in more detail. They are holding a Thanksgiving dinner to help hungry poor people like Stacey and I. They are also giving away free clothes to keep us warm during these upcoming cold months. I don’t really know how to react to that, but it most certainly is entertaining.
